ABOUT US

Samantha Nier

Trained as biologist, specialised in ecology and marine biology, my missions took me around the world. After North America, Mexico, stops in Asia and Madagascar, studies and work made me stop 2 years in England and then 2 years in Egypt before arriving in Switzerland.

Travels have allowed me to contemplate, to admire and to develop a different perspective on the world and its wonders: fauna and flora (terrestrial or marine), scenes of life and stolen moments, architecture, colours and lights, and cultural ethnic diversity.

A photo taken from my logbook is currently the cover for an educational book I wrote on sea turtles and their protection.

Each of my pictures conveys a love message for nature and people, showing the importance of protecting our heritage from past, respect, humanism and humanity.

Born in Madagascar, I have kept a taste for landscapes, travels, encounters. My engineer training brought me to Switzerland, where I am now since the early 2000s. Inspired by Geneva lights reflecting in the waters of the Arve, Rhone and Lake Geneva, my work depicts the city of Calvin, but also further horizons, large spaces, urban landscapes at night, through wide angle and fisheye photography, portraits and also studio composition.

As little victories, my photographic work is sometimes used for publications: exhibitions, magazines, newspapers, websites, press kits.

I also support SOS Children Geneva: my photos are processed in greeting card, sold to benefit children in distress.

Because for us photography is « Tout dire sans un mot… » (all without a word)
